When do real estate taxes come due?
Real estate taxes come due in July of each year. In Danbury, the real estate taxes, if they are above $100 may be paid in 4 installments (July, October, January and April).
Taxes are based on an assessment done on October 1 of the prior year.
I am selling my House, how do I change the name on my water/sewer bill?
When the deed is filed at the Town Clerk’s office, the information will be recorded and the Assessor will change the name and address on the piece of property.
My real estate tax bill says Grand List of 09; I didn’t buy my house until January of 2010, do I owe these taxes?
Yes you are responsible for these taxes. While the assessment on the property was done on October 1 2009, the taxes become due in payable in July of 2010. Taxes are assessed in arrears, but paid current (when you pay the July installment you are paying for July, August & September.
